The demo is not restricted in any way other than the 30 days, Publish will work OK. However, the built-in FTP support of OSX is actually Read-Only, if you try to copy a file into it in the Finder, it won’t let you.
If you want full read/write access in the Finder, try an application called ExpanDrive, I use it all the time, and it’s very good.
Another alternative would be to setup your FTP site as a bookmark in Flux and use Flux’s publishing mechanism.
