Flux in the App Store
We’ve had a few queries to ask if the version of Flux in the App Store is the same as the one you get from our website…
Yes, it is, it’s not a ‘lite’ version, it doesn’t have any features removed (apart from the auto update which is done via the App Store mechanisms of course).
We worked very hard for the two to be the same product, we really didn’t want to have a two tier system, it’s a pain for us, and unfair on our users. Whole chunks had to be rewritten to be acceptable to the App Store review teams, but we got there eventually.
The only real difference is the the version you get on the App Store will probably always be a little behind in the releases, simply because every revision needs to be approved by Apple, and that can take a while. If you want to be always at the cutting edge of where Flux is, buy it from our site. If you aren’t fussy about that, then get it from either, they are the same product.

PS : We’ve also been asked if this is the prelude to going ‘App Store Only’, like some other apps. The answer to this is an absolute NO, for *so* many reasons…
